Location scouting

One of the things I always do is check out locations and venues before a shoot. Today, my photographer friend Bev and I, headed to my local town to check out the area for a photo shoot next Friday.

We also headed over to the Cornwallis Arms where we both have weddings to shoot there later in the year. It's a fabulous place, simply brimming with beautiful gardens and I can't wait to photograph a wedding there in July!

Time for a change

I got together with Bev, my photographer friend and her daughter, Hannah who is a professional make up artist - and this is the result! A makeover and photo shoot is a great way to boost your confidence, and at the same time have some laughs and FUN! It would also make a perfect birthday or Mothers day treat!

Spring is officially here!

A happy Mothers Day to all you mums out there! The day started beautifully with some sunshine - it was even warm enough to open the patio doors and not feel a chill wind for a change. I spent most of the afternoon at my father in laws farm, where there's always something new to photograph, whether it's flowers, buildings or animals! There's finally a real feel of spring in the air... roll on summer I say!

Robin Hood arrives in Suffolk!

Bev and I had a great day photographing a Robin Hood theme wedding yesterday - it was filmed for Living TV's "Four Weddings" TV show - which will be aired later this year!

The costumes were amazing - all the guests dressed up in style, including the children - we were truly spoilt for choice when it came to taking photographs of the event! They also had an archer, birds of prey and a couple of horses for the guests to be photographed with!

All in all a fun day not spoilt by the chill wind outside!

I spent the weekend in Birmingham with some photo pals - it was the first time I've been there and I was very pleasantly surprised by the wonderfully photogenic canal network. Of course we had to "do" the Selfridges building (amazing piece of architecture!), but I hadn't expected the canals to be quite as extensive or pleasing to the eye as they were. We then paid a visit to the Focus on Imaging event at the NEC which, again, was most enjoyable. We sat in on a seminar by world renowned photographer Jeff Ascough (who I have to say, I hadn't heard of before the weekend!) and he gave us a useful insight into how he gets his fabulous low light/no flash wedding shots. I'm pleased to see that he has been using the same camera that I use with great results in low light. I came away feeling most inspired and looking forward to using some of the techniques that Jeff let us in on - bring on that low light!

New Shoots...

Spring is (hopefully!) springing...and it's been nice for the children to play in the garden in the sun! Although the snow has been so beautiful to photograph, I think we've all had enough and thoughts are turning to warmer days... and for me - to forthcoming photo shoots and weddings! I'm looking forward to carrying out a birthday photo shoot in April - three hours of dressing up in three different locations with 7 teenagers - scope for lots of fun and some great resulting shots!
